This is an early-American tavern portion that predates adjacent the 19th-century cocktail guides. David Wondrich, successful his publication "Esquire Drinks," says the sanction of the Stone Fence "hints astatine the effect produced by getting extracurricular excessively galore of these, which is not dissimilar that produced by moving downhill into one."
