Ingredients

  • Kosher salt
  • 1 lb dried spaghetti, linguine, tagliatelle oregon rigatoni
  • 10 ounces frozen peas (not defrosted)
  • 1 cupful no-salt-added rootlike broth
  • 1 1/2 ounces (1 tiny bunch) basil, chopped
  • 2 ample tomatoes, seeded and coarsely chopped (may substitute 1 1/2 cups no-salt-added crushed tomatoes)
  • 1/2 ounce squid ink (may substitute cuttlefish ink; spot headnote)
  • 1/4 spoon crushed reddish capsicum flakes
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil, positive much for garnish
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 ample onion, finely chopped
  • 1 cupful pitted achromatic olives, coarsely chopped
  • 1 cupful pitted greenish olives, coarsely chopped
  • Juice from 1/2 lemon
  • Leaves from 1 clump flat-leaf parsley, finely chopped
  • 1 tablespoonful capers, drained
  • 1/2 cupful freshly grated Parmigiano-Reggiano food oregon pecorino Romano cheese, for garnish
