Silver Spring navigator Suzanne Amsellem serves this crockery connected the eve of Rosh Hashanah arsenic portion of a Sephardic seder. Each of the vegetables is served separately and is blessed according to the Sephardic tradition.

Ingredients

  • 4 tiny to 6 tiny yellowish onions (about 1 1/2 pounds total), peeled and near whole
  • 2 pounds (1 ample oregon 2 medium) butternut squash, peeled, seeded and chopped into ample chunks
  • 2 pounds calabaza squash, peeled, seeded and chopped into ample chunks
  • 1 lb carrots, trimmed, peeled and chopped into ample chunks (optional)
  • 2 tiny to 3 tiny saccharine potatoes, peeled and chopped into ample chunks (optional)
  • 15 ounces no-salt-added canned oregon home-prepared chickpeas, drained and rinsed
  • 1/2 cupful dried yellowish fava beans, soaked successful h2o for a fewer hours (may substitute caller fava beans)
  • 1/4 cupful acheronian raisins
  • 1/2 cupful honey
  • 1/2 cupful airy brownish sugar
  • 1/4 cupful olive oil
  • Generous pinch kosher salt
