These casual sweetener cookies look low-key, but they person a distinctive crisp texture and, owing to caller ginger root, an enticing spice sensation that makes them memorable. Unlike galore vacation cookies, these don't necessitate rolling.

  • 2/3 cupful packed airy brownish sugar
  • 1 tablespoonful minced ginger root

  • 2 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 teaspoons finely grated citrus zest
  • 1/3 cupful sugar
  • Additional reddish oregon greenish decorating sugar, for garnish (optional)
