This operation of cooky and candy is hard to resist. Melting the cocoa chips connected the cooky basal helps the peppermint pieces adhere erstwhile the bark is breached into pieces. The peppermint could beryllium replaced with crushed toffee oregon chopped achromatic chocolate.

Ingredients

Servings: 24 5- to 6-inch-long irregularly shaped cookies

  • 1 1/2 cups flour
  • 3/4 spoon baking soda
  • 1/2 spoon salt
  • 1/2 cupful unsweetened dutch-process cocoa powder
  • 2 sticks (1 cup) unsalted butter, melted and cooled slightly
  • 3/4 cupful sugar
  • 1/2 cupful packed airy brownish sugar
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 3 cups (18 ounces) semisweet cocoa chips
  • 3/4 cupful to 1 cupful crushed peppermint candy (8 to 10 six-inch candy canes), crushed into tiny pieces
