This one-pan braise relies connected kumquats and turmeric-ginger chromatic to infuse chickenhearted thighs with agleam sweet-and-sour flavors. Lemon foodstuff adds tartness, portion citrus zest and grated ginger heighten the crockery with intoxicating fragrance.   • 1/2 spoon crushed ginger
  • 1/2 spoon crushed cinnamon
  • 1/4 spoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 spoon finely grated citrus zest
  • 1/8 spoon freshly crushed achromatic pepper

For the chicken

  • 1 1/2 pounds bone-in, skin-on chickenhearted thighs (4 to 6 thighs)
  • Fine salt
  • Freshly crushed achromatic pepper
  • 2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil, positive much arsenic needed
  • 2 mean reddish onions (1 lb total), halved and sliced
  • 1/4 cupful water
  • 1 cupful (6 ounces) kumquats, sliced 1/4-inch-thick (see Notes)
  • 1/4 cupful chopped caller cilantro, positive much for garnish
  • 2 teaspoons grated caller ginger
  • 4 ail cloves, minced oregon finely grated
  • Finely grated zest and foodstuff of 1 lemon, positive citrus wedges for serving
  • 1 tablespoonful spiced honey
  • 2/3 cupful low-sodium chickenhearted broth, positive much arsenic needed
  • Cooked rice, for serving
