2 pedestrians killed, driver arrested in Athens

Athens-Clarke County constabulary are investigating their 5th deadly clang of the year.

On Friday, officers responded to a single-vehicle clang involving 2 pedestrians astatine astir 8:32 p.m. adjacent Gaines School Road and Lexington Road.

One pedestrian, Amy Morgan, 58, of Athens, died from her injuries astatine the scene.

The 2nd pedestrian, Anthony Braxton, 31, of Athens, died from his injuries astatine the hospital.

The driver, Lois Dua, 54, of Bogart, Georgia, was not injured.

Police charged Dua with second-degree vehicular homicide and 2 counts of nonaccomplishment to output to a pedestrian successful a crosswalk.
